Arthritis Knee Pain...
Getting Its Due Respect

Arthritis knee pain is one of the most common ailments suffered by adults. The pain can be caused by osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, but either way the pain can make it difficult to handle even the simplest daily activities. Arthritis is one of those diseases that often does not get the same “respect” as other diseases, because bluntly stated...no one dies from arthritis.

Arthritis Knee Pain

Yet arthritis is an ongoing disease that gets progressively worse as time passes. Osteoarthritis is caused by the deterioration of the cartilage which cushions the joint. Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by a swelling of the joint lining which leads to inflammation in tissue around the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease while osteoarthritis is basically a wearing out of the joint from injury or a lifetime of use.

No matter what kind of arthritis you have, there is agreement the pain can be debilitating. When the knee hurts, it is difficult to walk, stand for any length of time, or to get up from a sitting position. The knee pain can lead to arthritis leg pain which is caused by pain radiating from the knee and from the efforts you make to accommodate your knee to lessen the pain.

Arthritis as a disease deserves a lot of respect and the pain deserves natural treatments.

The Gifts of Natural Treatments

In some severe cases you may need to resort to medication to relieve pain, but if you are like many health conscious people, it is always better to try natural treatments first. In fact, even if you are taking medication, the natural arthritis pain relief treatments often make it possible to keep the prescribed amounts as low as possible. Anytime you can avoid drugs through natural treatments, you are better off.

You can use natural treatments to obtain both rheumatoid and osteoarthritis pain relief. Natural treatments include the following:

  • Homeopathy treatments including taking elements such as colchicum and rhus toxicodendron to relieve joint swelling

  • Aromatherapy treatments such as rubbing herbal essential oils like lavender on the skin

  • Naturopathy treatments which include eating a diet high in elements such as omega-3 fatty acids or certain vitamins known to build cartilage or reduce tissue inflammation

These are just a few of the natural treatments that can be used to relieve arthritis knee pain. There are many others. The best program will be one that combines several activities in order to obtain the greatest relief. You don’t have to helplessly suffer with arthritis when you give the disease the respect it is due.
