Chest Pains Can Mean
Many Different Things

Various types of chest pains may include a sharp chest pain, which begins very suddenly and can be steady or intermittent; chest pain that can ; and pain that seems to be associated with inhalations or exhalations.

When you have chest pain, it can be frightening, but most of the time the problem can be addressed with natural and simple treatments. There are various ways you can alleviate, manage or prevent chest pains. Let's start with some basic information.

The heart is a large muscle that is responsible for pumping blood to our body systems. It is common for a person to immediately associate any chest pain with his heart. But there can be many other causes of chest pain.

Types And Causes

Many times panic attacks are accompanied by chest pain. This can be very severe pain in some cases. The pain is sharp and the victim often believes he or she is having a heart attack. This pain is usually caused by muscle contractions in the chest wall.

Respiratory conditions such as asthma can result in chest pains. This sort of pain can be concentrated in a localized area of the chest or it can be more diffused or spread out. In some cases this pain is severe and may be constant, or it can be mild and only felt on inhalations or exhalation.

Sometimes chest pain results from gastrointestinal disorders. That's right, even indigestion can lead to chest pains.

Angina is a pain that is felt under the chest bone (sternum). This is usually described as a feeling of heaviness or squeezing. This type of pain is often related to emotions or exertion.

Preventions And Maintenance

So now you may be wondering what you can do to help prevent or alleviate any chest pain. To put it simply, you need to take care of yourself. Okay, that may be too simplistic. Please look over the list below:

  • Eat a healthy diet

  • Stay physically fit

  • Lower the stress in your life

Believe it or not those three things will do wonders to prevent chest pains in your life. Additionally, you will find many other benefits related to those three key elements.

A healthy diet results in you feeling better and more energetic. That elevation of energy and vitality will lead to you being more active. By avoiding or eliminating stress factors in your life you will find that you are happier and that also contributes to a higher level of energy. You really cannot go wrong by including those three elements in your life!

A word of caution: never ignore unexplained chest pains. Chest pains can include sharp chest pain, mild chest pain and everything in between, but no matter what degree you experience, it is important to pay attention to this symptom of a larger problem.
