Lower Back Pain
May Seem to Have No Cause

Lower back pain can result from a number of different causes. These causes include injury, arthritis, a physical defect, or even stress. Unfortunately, such pain can often seem to have no cause which can be frustrating and difficult to treat.

Lower Back Pain

Back pain can occur anywhere along the spine. This means you can have pain at the middle back as well as at the lower back. Pain can occur at any point along the spine from the skull base all the way to the tailbone. But lower back discomfort is one of the most common complaints because this is where the muscles in the back are often strained due to lifting weight incorrectly or excessive sitting.

Lower back problems can indicate one of several things. There may be a muscle strain or there might be a slipped disk. Back discomfort also occurs because of the presence of certain diseases or disorders such as osteoarthritis. Stress can cause lower back issues also due to a tightening of the muscles which affects the spine. Stress is often the culprit when it appears there is no reason for the pain.

Easing the Pain

When you have a lower back problem, life can be miserable. No matter how you walk, stand or sit, the pain can occur along a continuum from excruciating to a mild discomfort. In the severest cases, prescription medication might be recommended, but in many cases natural treatments can provide relief.

Sometimes the best natural treatment for lower back pain is simple bed rest. When you have injured your back, letting the muscle rest or any inflammation to recede can relieve the back pain. But there are other natural treatments which can bring much needed lower back pain relief now and reduce the chances of experiencing back pain in the future.

It may sound odd at first, but exercise is one of the best natural pain management treatments for your lower back. Often the pain in the lower back is actually pain in lower back muscles that have been injured due to being weak. When muscles are not strengthened by exercise, it is much easier to injure them even with simple movements such as twisting or sitting too long.

Natural Back Relief

The natural back relief therapies focus on pain management by eliminating or reducing the controllable causes of back pain. For example, besides strengthening muscles through exercise, you can be more careful about how you lift heavy items.

Stress is a major cause of back pain. Stress can make muscles tighten so they don't work like they should and they become more prone to injury. So another natural cure for lower back pain is to reduce the amount of stress in your life or learn how to find stress relief through aromatherapy or massage therapy.
